About Reiki
What Is Reiki?
Reiki is a form of energy healing that originated in Japan. It is a complementary or alternative therapy, meaning it can be used alongside traditional medical treatments but doesn't replace them. It is gentle and non-invasive, suitable for everyone. Reiki is based on the belief that our bodies have natural healing energies and capabilities, and that these energies can be harnessed to help us heal on physical, emotional and spiritual levels. Reiki practitioners use their hands to channel these energies into the person receiving treatment, improving overall health and well- being.

How does Reiki Work?
The practice is grounded in the idea that energy flows freely through a healthy body, but when energy becomes blocked or imbalanced it can lead to physical or emotional ailments. Practitioners channel life force energy though their hands. The physical vibration in a person's body heats up or slows down based on how the practitioner shifts energy with their hands. During a Reiki session, the practitioner will place their hands on or near the client's body in a series of specific hand positions. The client is fully clothed during the treatment and can be on a massage table or in a chair. The practitioner works each hand position for 3-5 minutes before moving on to the next area.

What does Reiki feel like?
It feels healing, peaceful, calm, loving and deeply relaxing. It allows the client to go into a deep, peaceful meditation with no effort. Some people report feeling heat or tingling from the practitioner's hands, release of muscle tension, reduction in pain and /or a relaxation of emotional armor. Some clients see colors, get messages, fall asleep and on occasion feel nothing. There are no contraindications or side effects with Reiki. Reiki is a personal experience and the effects are wide and varied because everyone's needs are different. Sometimes clients don't perceive much is happening during the Reiki session but instead notice changes in the next 12-72 hours.

Reiki can be used to help alleviate a variety of physical and emotional conditions. Reiki isn't a tool to fix you, it is just a technique that promotes tuning in to your higher and best self.
